BrotherWord - Challenge

Life is one challenge after another and just when you think you have passed one test, here comes another.  Each challenge is meant to push you to the next level, to test your mental and physical acumen, and to help you grow and change. But are you ready for the challenge?

Truthfully, none of us are quite ready for the challenges we will face, but rest assured, each of us is properly equipped to handle them, even if we do not think so.  There is a plan and a purpose in the process and it is up to us to persist in order to prevail.  Every challenge is meant as a stepping stone for us to reach new heights, but in order to move up you have to be willing to take the first step and then not be afraid to continue the course.  No one started out on top.  Every professional was once an amateur and every expert started out as a novice.  So what makes you think it would be any different for you?

Change is inevitable, but how you adapt to and apply what transpires makes all the difference.  Do not fear change, do not run from it, do not rebel against it.  Whether you can see it now or not, change is good and it is the only way we can progress and elevate our lives.  If it does not challenge you, it probably is not productive or progressive either.  Do not limit your challenges, challenge your limits!

“Challenges are what make life interesting.  Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” ~ Joshua J. Marine

Thankful Thursdays!

BrotherWord - Thankful Thursday

I am THANKFUL today for the things that push us, challenge us, force us to move out of our comfort zone and explore the unknown.  Recently I had a conversation in which I expressed, “contentment breeds mediocrity.”  If living life meant only pursuing the status quo or playing it safe, there would be no need for growth or discovery.  We would simply… exist.

I am THANKFUL because challenges are the beginning of enlightenment.  As a student, we were dared to flex our intellectual muscles and to think outside of the box.  As an athlete, you are asked to dig deep within and to push beyond what you thought was your limit.  In your career, you are tasked to take on not only your duties, but other duties as assigned and to be efficient and effective.  Throughout life, no matter the area, we each will be pushed and prodded to reach new levels.

I am THANKFUL because instead of settling, I accepted the challenge and despite the obstacle, doubts, fears, uncertainty, or lack of support, I am eager each day to discover something new and to learn more.  Do not be afraid of the unknown or shy away from difficulty.  The greatest achievements in life stemmed from the most strenuous of circumstances.  Anyone who has reached any pinnacle of success has come through struggle and has persevered past the challenges.  Very few have been handed immediate success, but many have fought to earn it.

I am THANKFUL for the people who challenge me to think introspectively, creatively, intellectually, and ethically, and morally.  I am THANKFUL for the challenges of life that force me to accept things I cannot change and work that much harder to change the things that I do have control over.  I am THANKFUL for lessons that teach and chastise and remind me that anything worth its salt is worth the effort to obtain it.  I am THANKFUL that I have the opportunity to achieve all my dreams as long as I willing to accept the challenge.

What are you THANKFUL for?  How have the challenges in your life shaped you?  Share your challenges and triumphs with BrotherWord here on on facebook/Brotherword or @BrotherWord with the #Thankful4Challenges.

BrotherWord - Challenge You
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone – Neale Donald Walsch

Life truly begins the moment we step out of our comfort zones and are forced to explore the unknown.  Skating through life on easy street, avoiding any and everything that appears complicated, and afraid to adventure into the unknown is a sure-fired way to live a stagnant life void of the euphoria of discovery.

It is a testament of faith and determination and there is no doubt that if things in life do not challenge you on a cerebral, physiological, psychological, and emotional level, there is no way growth can take place.  Challenge may be the cause, but change is the effect to help you discover your inner depth.  Life is meant to challenge you because with each challenge, a new layer is revealed and you will discover the prowess of your talents, a deeper desire to succeed, and uncanny ability to overcome life’s trials.  With every challenge you will be forced to venture from what is comfortable to something that may be unfamiliar, but is uplifting.

Let go of the fear of the unknown.  The moon was unknown until someone dared to send a man into space.  Electricity was unknown until someone challenged contemporary thought and ignored the naysayers.  The list goes on and on about all the wonders of life that would have never happened if someone did not decide to challenge the conventional in order to change the future.  What is challenging you to make the change the change of your life and are you willing to walk in the unknown to chase your dreams?

Change is not a bad thing, especially when that change is the first step towards destiny.  Never again let comfortability stifle your growth.  If the caterpillar remained on the ground, comfortable to crawl around, afraid of change, how would it ever turn into the beautiful butterfly?  When you remain in your comfort zone, you remain grounded, doomed to wallow the on the dirt.  But when you accept change, dare to discover the unknown, this is when you sprout wings and gain the ability to fly high, cover new terrain, and see wonders never imagined.

The comfort zone is the great enemy to creativity; moving beyond it necessitates intuition, which in turn configures new perspectives and conquers fears. ~ Dan Stevens
You should not remain in your comfort zone; if you want to make it big, you must challenge yourself, get out of your comfort zone, and succeed in doing well outside of your comfort areas. ~ Rohit Sharma

Be willing to step outside your comfort zone once in a while; take the risks in life that seem worth taking. The ride might not be as predictable if you’d just planted your feet and stayed put, but it will be a heck of a lot more interesting. ~ Edward Whitacre, Jr.

If you run with wolves, you will crawl like them, but if you run with eagles, you will surely soar like them!” ~ @sanitrah

I am so THANKFUL for friends like the ones depicted in the quote above.  The kind of friends who challenge you to do more, want more, and be more.  No matter how much inner strength one possesses, it is always good to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who will support and encourage you as you travel through life’s journey.

I’m am THANKFUL that my circle not only supports my mission, but will also ride along no matter how turbulent the road may become.  It is one thing to be surrounded with “friends” when all is well, but it is at those darkest moments when that friendship is truly tested and the pretenders begin to separate themselves from those that are genuine and the weak fall to the wayside as the strong rise to the top. If it doesn’t enrich your life, bring value, or challenge you to stretch beyond what you thought was possible, it is not needed. ~ BrotherWord

Greatness is only obtained by those that strive for it.  If you are waiting for change, waiting for opportunity, waiting for something spectacular to happen, you are fooling yourself.  Great things happen to those that prepare and position themselves to pounce when the possibility arises.

Passion fuels the fire, but preparation wins the battle.  Prepare like never before and will yourself to victory.  This is the biggest test you will ever take and you possess everything you need to triumph.  Do not accept anything but your best and do not leave it to others to do what you can do yourself.  Your circle may get smaller, but your vision will get larger.  The challenges you accept today will certainly shape your future and change you in ways unimaginable – great ways.

“You were born with potential.  You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness.  You were born with wings.  You are not meant for crawling, so don’t.   You have wings.  Learn to use them and fly.” ~ Rumi

Talent alone won’t make you a success. Neither will being in the right place at the right time, unless you are ready. The most important question is: ‘Are your ready?’ ~ Johnny Carson

As I travel on this journey called life, I find myself at a fork in the road;

One wrong turn could spell disaster, one right turn could pave the streets gold.

But is it really about rights and wrongs; Or more about lessons learned.

It’s said the journey is greater than the destination, navigating muddy waters can pose complications, but I chose to use it all as motivation.

Too many positives to let the negatives hold me back;

I was built with a purpose and a passion, the ability to overcome and succeed, I have the tools to defend against any attack.

Far from easy and the terrain is treacherous;

but I’ve never met a foe I couldn’t defeat and I’ve always been adventurous.

Thankful Thursday!

BrotherWord - Thankful Thursday

Today, I am most THANKFUL for the struggle.  Through struggle I discovered that I am greater than imagined and the only limitations I have are those that I impose on myself.  I am capable beyond measure and with obstacles, we gain experience and with experience, we build wisdom and wisdom translates into inner peace and greater understanding.  For that I am most grateful and because of that, I hope to share my experiences and knowledge with as many as I can.  Life is never promised to be without strife, turmoil, or rainy days.  But it does promise to be adventurous, ever-changing, challenging and when seen properly, it can offer everything one desires and so much more.  Today, I am thankful for the heartaches, downfalls, trials, and all things thought to be bad that have led to victory, growth, newfound awareness, and fortified my purpose in life!

What are you thankful for today and how has life’s challenges shaped you into the person you are now?
