Thankful Thursday – World Gratitude Day

Today is World Gratitude Day!  I am beyond excited to watch the world take a moment to express gratitude to each other.  We all often become consumed by the daily grind, trying to cram all we can into twenty-four hours and finding ourselves overwhelmed with deadlines, responsibilities, tasks, the whims of others, and our own personal needs.  Whew… that is a lot just thinking about it.  But today, let’s take a moment to just be grateful for the here and now, the sun rising, the roof over our head, the family and friends in our lives, the jobs we have, things as simple as the breathe in our lungs and the shining of the sun on our face.  You have often heard me say, The More You Think, The More You Thank© and especially on #WorldGratitudeDay, take the time to think about all the things you can be thankful for.

Here are a few quick and easy ways to celebrate World Gratitude Day… and every day:

1.)  Put on your favorite song this morning and sing along with it out loud and dance like there is no tomorrow.  You’ll be surprised how giddy you will feel and invigorating it is to be free and enjoying the moment.

2.) List {BrotherWord – Gratitude Day}10 things you are grateful for and write them out.  Do not over think it, but write the first ten things that come to mind.  After writing them out, place the list somewhere you can see it all day.  Writing your grateful items out will help you to realize the blessings in your life and viewing them throughout the day is a great reminder and anecdote if the day becomes a little hectic.

3.) Reach out to your circle and let them know how grateful you are for them.  It is nothing like being appreciated and acknowledged; it boosts the energy of the receiver and comforts the giver.  It is a kinetic enlightenment that is contagious and transformative.

4.) Do one thing for yourself today that you have been meaning to do and have been putting off.  Nothing major, just a simple gesture.  Start reading that book, go to the gym, cook that dish, call that friend you have been meaning to check on, take a bubble bath, simply take a moment to pamper yourself and accomplish a personal goal.  Take a quiet moment to read and reflect on a devotional or meditate in silence concentrating on your breathing as you inhale and exhale and calming your inner being.  Being grateful also means caring for yourself and embracing life to the fullest, even in the simplest of ways.

5.) Touch someone in the community and remind them too that there are many things which we can be grateful for.  Especially in light of the recent hurricanes, Harvey, Irma, and now Maria, many are still suffering and recovering, and any ray of hope and happiness can do a wonder of good.  Share your gratitude by helping those in need, volunteering at a shelter or food bank, helping clean a home or neighborhood, or just being kind to a complete stranger for nothing more than the sake of being kind.  FYI: Hugs and thank yous can lift the spirit in unbelievable ways.

Hopefully these ideas will help you to celebrate World Gratitude Day and start great habits for everyday.  A grateful heart is one that remembers and celebrates, it heals and consoles, and is thankful for it all.  Be Great-Full Today!

Thankful Thursdays!

BrotherWord - Thankful Thursdays!

If you run with wolves, you will crawl like them, but if you run with eagles, you will surely soar like them!” ~ @sanitrah

I am so THANKFUL for friends like the ones depicted in the quote above.  The kind of friends who challenge you to do more, want more, and be more.  No matter how much inner strength one possesses, it is always good to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who will support and encourage you as you travel through life’s journey.

I’m am THANKFUL that my circle not only supports my mission, but will also ride along no matter how turbulent the road may become.  It is one thing to be surrounded with “friends” when all is well, but it is at those darkest moments when that friendship is truly tested and the pretenders begin to separate themselves from those that are genuine and the weak fall to the wayside as the strong rise to the top. Motivational Monday

BrotherWord - Motivational Monday

Today I had one of the most interesting and inspirational conversations with an old friend.  As we were catching up and he was filling me in on his life over the past years, I couldn’t help but smile as I could hear how far he has come and more importantly, how much he has overcome.  To say I am excited for the path that he is on would be an understatement.

What stood out the most and resonated the loudest was we he began to explain his “leap of faith.”  We’ve heard people use this phrase many times, but actually witnessing its manifestation is monumental and can leave one awestruck.  It’s not about doubting a person, not believing in their talents, or thinking it is impossible, but our inability at times to see beyond the here and now, past the obstacles.  Martin Luther King, Jr. once said. “Take the first step in faith.  You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”  When you are climbing the stairs or taking the escalator, do you actually look at how many step are there or do you trust that it will be there one by one as you move along.  No different in life.

“Everything you want is on the other side of fear,” is a very powerful quote by Jack Canfield.  How often how you let fear, doubt, insecurity, the unknown stop you from discovering your greatness.  Just like the staircase, if only you took one step, the other step would manifest one after another helping you to continue to climb and reach your dreams.  Sometimes, you literally have to walk on expectancy, believing that what you desire is not only possible, but also attainable.  Faith will provide and fill in the gaps where provisions are lacking.

Think about a puzzle.  Like the picture on the box, you have your vision in mind, you know what your dream looks like.  As you began to place the puzzle pieces together, the picture starts to develop.  Such as your leap of faith.  After you take that first step, trusting and believing the picture will come together, the pieces will begin to formulate on their own, lining up perfectly.  People will be drawn to you offering assistance you never thought possible and providing exactly what you need even though you had no idea you need them.  Funds will become available, allowing you to not inly sustain, but grow and prosper.  Your confidence will expand and the walk up the staircase will become exciting and exhilarating.

What my friend showed my yet again is that when we believe and trust, when we walk on faith, we strive for our hopes and dreams, the possibilities are endless!  I can’t think him enough for inspiring me to continue to pursue my dreams and I challenge each of you to do the same.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful

It’s Thankful Thursday!!!  What are you thankful for today?

Did someone buy you lunch, open a door for you, tell you how nice you look?  Being thankful comes in may forms, but sometimes we have to dig deep to find thankfulness in the toughest of situations.  It’s about having an “Attitude of Gratitude!”  Even when life has turned you upside down, caused you conflict and sadness, you have to find an inner peace… “Peace on Purpose.”
