30 Day Challenge to be THANKFUL
Being THANKFUL doesn’t just happen! It comes through daily affirmations of appreciation and gratitude for what we do have and even for what may not be ideal in our mind or world. You wouldn’t expect a flower to grow without water nor would you expect your body to get healthier without nourishing it, so why would you expect to feel like you have enough and you are enough, without nurturing a THANKFUL spirit and mindset and an appreciation for yourself, those around you, and for where you currently are in life. A THANKFUL life does not mean being complacent, but accepting and working with your present circumstances while patiently waiting for what is yet to come. (more…)
One of the greatest feelings in the world is to know you’re not alone. Having someone to confide in and call upon when times are difficult is a comforting and securing feeling that can’t easily be replaced. I am so THANKFUL to have people in my life who are more than family and friends, but confidants, listeners, and sounding boards. They uplift and support me and add an element of belonging. I’m THANKFUL for the ability to speak without being judged, to express without being looked down upon, to converse freely without condemnation, and to express my feelings without them being dismissed.
Communication is the key to life and when you’re able to share dialogue openly and honestly, it is a gratifying feeling. Take time to speak with your loved ones; more importantly, make time to listen to them. The best gift you can give to someone is to listen to them and let them know what they think and how they feel is as important to you as it is to them. Show them how THANKFUL you are for their thoughts and opinions and they’ll be just as THANKFUL to have a voice.
Are you THANKFUL for those around you and the freedom they afford you to share your voice? How does communication play a part in your THANKFULNESS? Share your thoughts with #BrotherWord and THANK YOU for listening.
Contentment does not mean settling or giving up. It is about being appreciative and THANKFUL for the here and now. It’s about finding peace with what you have and what you don’t have. One of the biggest challenges in life is being satisfied with your present situation while striving for a greater future. Don’t get bogged down with the what ifs, the could have been, or the when this or that happens, but instead relish in the moment and appreciate it for all it’s worth. Right now is where you are meant to be and the peace you feel, the inner smile of gratitude, is God’s way of letting you know that just like yesterday took care of itself, so will tomorrow. Be THANKFUL for today and find contentment in knowing that now is a great place to be. Make it a mindset to grasp the moment and express THANKFULNESS in your current state. The more we learn to seize every opportunity, the less we’ll feel we’ve let opportunities escape us – Carpe Diem!
Lose not yourself in a far off time, seize the moment that is thine. ~ Friedrich Schiller
In the wake of the tragedy in Moore, Ok. earlier this week it is easy to succumb to the destruction and disaster that has shaken that community. It’s another catastrophic event that reminds us of the frailty of life. All of our prayers collectively go out and as a nation, we will support our brethren and restore what has been broken, whether its houses, schools, communities, or spirits. And here lies the beauty and all that we have to be THANKFUL for. Dire situations bring out the best in all of us and show the character of our fellow man. Look at the outpouring from around the country, listen to the citizens in Moore who despite the mass destruction around them, have continued to express how THANKFUL they still remain. It warms BrotherWord’s heart to see the spirit of THANKFULNESS shine through the worst of situations and people from all around the world, from all races & ethnicities, reaching out to lend whatever aid is necessary. From first responders, to national aid organizations, to professional athletes and entertainers, to John Q has made strives to let Moore, Ok. know we stand with them.
If the community of Moore can find hope in the eye of the storm, we too can find hope in the midst of our tragedies. Rainbows only happen where there is rain. So, when life rains on your day and brings a storm into your world, remember the sun shall rise and your future is brighter than your past! Being THANKFUL is a mindset and choosing to find the beauty in an ugly situation, the hope in despair, and the light in darkness is a trait we all possess and prayerfully take advantage of more often than not. Today and everyday, choose THANKFULNESS and watch your storm go away and your world shine!
Ever thought what if or if only I would have done this or that? We all have had those moments when we wished we can turn back the hands of time and have a do-over, a Mulligan. The thing with do-overs are that it doesn’t guarantee we’ll get the desired outcome. Instead of dwelling on the past, wishing to do something over, be THANKFUL for today and all it offers. Today gives us the opportunity to make all our wishes come true, because truth be told, all we have control over is the here and now. Wouldn’t it be great to make today the best day it possibly can be? Take advantage of all that today brings to the table and watch how prosperous today will become. Be THANKFUL for the big and the small and everything in between. When we appreciate the present (today), we see the value in yesterday (history), and are not only prepared, but have a joyful expectation for what tomorrow (mystery) will offer. Practice being THANKFUL for where you are, what you have, and what you’ve gone through. These are the building blocks for the mind and soul that gives peace and purpose. It soothes, teaches, and prepares us for the next phase. THANKFUL on purpose and with a purpose, today and everyday!
What are you THANKFUL for today? Who can you share your THANKFULNESS with? Can BrotherWord help you discover or re-discover being THANKFUL on purpose? Send your THANKFUL expressions, questions, and thoughts to BrotherWord in the comment section or at BrotherWord34@gmail.com.
It’s Thankful Thursday!!! What are you thankful for today?
Did someone buy you lunch, open a door for you, tell you how nice you look? Being thankful comes in may forms, but sometimes we have to dig deep to find thankfulness in the toughest of situations. It’s about having an “Attitude of Gratitude!” Even when life has turned you upside down, caused you conflict and sadness, you have to find an inner peace… “Peace on Purpose.”
