Motivation can be found in many sources, but what is most refreshing and inspiring is when our youth are the ones leading the charge and motivating the elder statesmen. The adage states our children are our future and despite the numerous stories of youth on the wrong side of the law, there are just as many stories of youth who are excelling above and beyond the norms. One such youth is Jaylen Bledsoe.
At the spry age of 15, Bledsoe has already amassed a $3.5 million IT corporation that is steadily growing and expanding. The CEO and President of Bledsoe Technologies, based in Missouri, states his best advise for other young entrepreneurs is to “Take risks. As a minor, there’s nothing you can do that will shoot you down for too long. You can always jump back up and keep going.”
Bledsoe’s company staffs 150 contract employees to meet the high demands and although his age doesn’t normally coincide with wisdom, Bledsoe is preparing for the next phase of life and has intentions on attending Harvard and pursuing a corporate law degree, displaying wisdom beyond his years.
The 40s television show The Quiz Kids featured child prodigies and used the tagline “Out the mouth of babes oft times come gems.” Jaylen Bledsoe is such a gem and a true motivation and inspiration that age does not dictate success nor hinder those that strive to succeed. The only thing one needs do is keep trying, never quit, and never give up on your dream. Success is gained by those who have the will and thrive to overcome in the face of turmoil and challenges. Use this young man as a motivation to show us all that dreams are possible and whatever we set our minds to can be achieved.
Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. ~ Napoleon Hill
As I travel on this journey called life, I find myself at a fork in the road;
One wrong turn could spell disaster, one right turn could pave the streets gold.
But is it really about rights and wrongs; Or more about lessons learned.
It’s said the journey is greater than the destination, navigating muddy waters can pose complications, but I chose to use it all as motivation.
Too many positives to let the negatives hold me back;
I was built with a purpose and a passion, the ability to overcome and succeed, I have the tools to defend against any attack.
Far from easy and the terrain is treacherous;
but I’ve never met a foe I couldn’t defeat and I’ve always been adventurous.
Words are some of the most powerful tools available to us. The power of a word can build or destroy in an instant and every word builds upon itself empowering its subject or tearing it apart. But what’s most fascinating about words is that it’s intention and perception can be completely opposite. How we use and understand words is what separates us and no matter the intention, it is on the individual on how they perceive it, digest it, and let it manifest in their spirit. Every word, comment, and conversation can be used for motivation or inspiration. Your detractors may be many, but that same ridicule can be used as an ignition to fuel the fire within and push you to reach deeper. Compliments sometimes are few and far in between, but when we receive them, it can be an inspiration to carry us, affirmation to let us know we’re on the right path, and a needed boost to get us over the hump and let us know that what we are doing makes a difference to someone. Choose your words wisely and remember their power and influence. It’s easier to demolish a building than it is to resurrect and the same is true with a person’s psyche. It is so hard to give someone their confidence back, their self-esteem, and so easy to damage it. Today, and every opportunity you can, speak life, speak strength, speak courage, speak happiness, speak thankfulness, speak gratitude, speak possibility, and even when we have to give criticism, discipline, unsettling opinions, speak that too in love. Let your words uplift the hearts and minds of the listener and plant a garden that shall grow truth, wisdom, and love.
Nails In the Fence Author Unknown There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.” The little boy then understood how powerful his words were. He looked up at his father and said, “I hope you can forgive me father for the holes I put in you.” “Of course I can,” said the father.
What we are is far from what we”ll become, but in order to become all we shall be, we have to keep striving and reaching for our dreams. Don’t let obstacles, challenges, setbacks, or people deter you from your goals. Only you can stop you and it’s at the breaking point when you truly discover what you are made of and what you are capable of. You are a prized possession with prized possessions that others would love to possess just to have a piece of the prize. In other words, what you are and what you offer is priceless and valuable all at once. It is a gift given unto you and no one else can replicate it or do as you would, so embrace all that you are and all that you will become. The dream you have can and will become your reality. All you have to do is believe in yourself and keep pushing. It is yours for the taking!
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is… START. You have so many great ideas, but no idea where to begin or how to get the ball rolling. Don’t let the enormity of the dream deter you from beginning the journey. Put one foot in the front the other and start moving. Like a pebble rolling down a hill, the more it rolls, the more it picks up steam, the larger it gets, and it begins encompassing all it comes in contact with. Imagine jump-starting a vehicle. It’s difficult pushing it, 2 tons of dead weight, immobile, at a standstill. As hard as it may be initially, the vehicle begins to rock, the tires start turning, and inch by inch, you’re pushing forward, moving steadily. Eventually, you pick up a little momentum, a little more speed, enough to hop in, pop the clutch, and off you go. No different when pursuing your dreams and aspirations. It may seem like an insurmountable task at first, and enormous hill to climb, but the only way to achieve the dream is to START. Get moving, build your momentum, and enjoy the ride. #Begin2Win
“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” ~ Zig Zager
Is the dream your chasing worth the price your paying? If it isn’t empowering, enriching, or energizing your life and those around you, it may be time to reevaluate. The dream is about hope & aspirations and the pursuit should be envigorating and enlightening. Be inspired, be committed, be persistent, but most important, be mindful of the road ahead. Dream the impossible, strive for the unimaginable, and see the incomparable become impactful! #DreamChaser
