brotherword-new-years-resolutions

As a #NewYear dawns on us, so does new hopes, aspirations, and resolutions.  With each comes an invigorated spirit of excitement and dedication, but unfortunately by early February, many of us have loss enthusiasm or completely abandoned the plan.  Thinking of what I hope to accomplish to do this year, I must say I have an aggressive list of things I would like to accomplish and although each is very achievable, it will require discipline, proper time management, and continued prayer.

No matter what resolution or promise you have made to yourself or others, remember each day is its own opportunity.  Start small and work toward the big stuff.  You did not gain that weight overnight, nor will you lose it overnight; it took longer than a week to accumulate the clutter in the house, so do not think you will blink your eyes and it will disappear either.  Obtaining goals are more about the process than it is the timeframe.  Anything that is done consistently becomes habit and habits become building blocks.

Focus on building good habits and watch the #ToDoList check itself off.  And if you are having a hard time figuring out where to start, please take a moment to look over #30ThingsYouMightWantToStartDoingForYourself by Darryl Ricardo Matthews, Sr – @32ndGP.  With any endeavor, it is always good to begin within and these 30 reminders are essential building blocks to life goals!

No matter what this year holds, do not lose hope and do not give up.  Remember each day may bring its own obstacles, but it also presents new opportunities. (more…)

What are you willing to sacrifice to attain your dream?  What lengths are you willing to go to bring your vision to life?  If money was not an issue or deterrent, what would you do for a living?  Whatever that answer is for you, START DOING IT RIGHT NOW!  You know your purpose and have a glimpse of the destiny ahead.  Stop letting bumps destroy the dream.  Pain is a good thing at times; it reminds us that we’re alive and we can overcome.  Embrace the challenges, the obstacles, and the perils of life.  They are temporary and they are building blocks to better your future.  Whatever it is that has been ignited in your soul, take control of that fire and let it simmer.  The hotter it gets, like gold, the better you shine; like a hot air balloon, the higher you rise; and like a volcano, the greater you erupt.  Today is the day to become all you know you can be and to take hold of your own destiny!

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.” ~ Vince Lombardi

“When I dare to be powerful – to use my strength in the service of my vision – then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” ~ Audre Lorde

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is… START.  You have so many great ideas, but no idea where to begin or how to get the ball rolling.  Don’t let the enormity of the dream deter you from beginning the journey.  Put one foot in the front the other and start moving.  Like a pebble rolling down a hill, the more it rolls, the more it picks up steam, the larger it gets, and it begins encompassing all it comes in contact with.  Imagine jump-starting a vehicle.  It’s difficult pushing it, 2 tons of dead weight, immobile, at a standstill.  As hard as it may be initially, the vehicle begins to rock, the tires start turning, and inch by inch, you’re pushing forward, moving steadily.  Eventually, you pick up a little momentum, a little more speed, enough to hop in, pop the clutch, and off you go.  No different when pursuing your dreams and aspirations.  It may seem like an insurmountable task at first, and enormous hill to climb, but the only way to achieve the dream is to START.  Get moving, build your momentum, and enjoy the ride.  #Begin2Win
