Thankful Thursday!

BrotherWord - ThankfulDiscover God’s purpose and dreams for you.  Take steps forward in obedience, enjoy the adventure along the way, and be thankful for it all. ~BrotherWord

You may find it hard to be THANKFUL when life keeps kicking you in the teeth and at every turn failure continues to loom, but I can guarantee you that on your worse day, there is someone out there who would trade with you in a heartbeat.  Life can be a cruel and relenting piece of work, but you are far greater than anything life can throw at you.

So THANKFUL that I was made in His image, made to be a conqueror, made to be great, made to overcome, and made to win!  One of the hardest things to absorb, let alone live by, is understanding that obedience is better than sacrifice and being obedient even when it makes no sense and is incomprehensible, is a feat in and of itself.  But my God!  I am THANKFUL that with obedience comes favor and with favor comes the blessings of God.  Walking in God’s will can be a complex conundrum wrapped in an enigma, yet it is a fulfilling journey that cannot be replicated or replaced.  That is more than enough to be THANKFUL for on any given day!

Tomorrow when everything seems to hit a nerve, when the traffic is moving too slow, co-workers become annoying, family is losing their minds, and the walls are closing in, remember this too shall pass and because of your obedience in fulfilling your purpose, you have already claimed the victory.  Be THANKFUL for the noise because it is an opportunity to calm the hysteria; be THANKFUL for the chaos because it is God’s way of putting life back in order; and be THANKFUL for the unknown, because it is in the wilderness that we find direction, purpose, strength, courage, and gain knowledge.

Yes, life can be hard, but I am THANKFUL that my God has seen it all and is the architect, so no matter what may happen, when I am obedient to His calling, my prayers shall be answered.

“Obedience is a word and concept from which the valiant look for their deliverance.” ~ Anonymous

“I have thought about it a great deal, and the more I think, the more certain I am that obedience is the gateway through which knowledge, yes, and love, too, enter the mind of the child.” ~ Anne Sullivan

“Does it make sense to pray for guidance about the future if we are not obeying in the thing that lies before us today? How many momentous events in Scripture depended on one person’s seemingly small act of obedience! Rest assured: Do what God tells you to do now, and, depend upon it, you will be shown what to do next.” ~ Elisabeth Elliot

BrotherWord - Struggle

It is real simple… Today I am THANKFUL for LIFE!  I am THANKFUL that I woke up this morning when many did not and made it through the day even though many more will not.  I am THANKFUL because although I may not have everything I want, I may not be exactly where I would like to be, or everything is not picture perfect, God willing, I will wake up tomorrow and have another chance to get that much closer to all of the above.

I am THANKFUL that even in defeat there is a blessing in the lesson and as long as I learn from failure, I will never lose.  I am THANKFUL for the hard times that built strength and character and for the pain that taught me that what I thought was my limit is was actually where I just began.  I am THANKFUL that at the worst of times when all seems loss, it only takes a mere thought, a moment of clarity, a positive outlook, to turn it all around and work in my favor.  I am THANKFUL because I did not quit or succumb.  Instead, I got up and moved forward.

I am THANKFUL for everyone that will read this, learn from this, and grow from this as they realize that they too are powerful beyond imagination and capable beyond expectations.  I am THANKFUL that others saw fit to pour into me because they knew it would not be wasted and would be used to uplift others.  I am THANKFUL that some have seen their labors come to fruition and received the fruits of their labor.  And for those who were not able to see the finished product, I am THANKFUL that I still feel their presence and work daily to make them proud.  I am THANKFUL because they gave me the best of them because they saw the best in me.

Today and each day, be THANKFUL for every aspect of life and every chance encounter.  The truest reality about life is that it can be an awesome adventure or a barren wasteland; it is completely dependent on the attitude and perspective in which you choose to live.  The meaning of life?  Look within, reach far and wide, believe with all your might, trust your instincts, because the meaning of life is whatever you want it to be and you are the creator of your destiny.  For that, I am very THANKFUL.

I am THANKFUL for the fight!  If life were easy, it would not be worth it.  If it was not for the fight, how would you know what you could endure, how long you could last, how would you learn to take a punch and still come out victorious?  Yes, I am THANKFUL for the fight because during the fight, I became a fighter, learned to defend myself, counter punch, and get up off the canvas.  The fight gave me strength I never knew I had and the will to keep going.  The fight built a champion! Motivational Monday

BrotherWord - Motivational Monday

Words are some of the most powerful tools available to us.  The power of a word can build or destroy in an instant and every word builds upon itself empowering its subject or tearing it apart.  But what’s most fascinating about words is that it’s intention and perception can be completely opposite.  How we use and understand words is what separates us and no matter the intention, it is on the individual on how they perceive it, digest it, and let it manifest in their spirit.  Every word, comment, and conversation can be used for motivation or inspiration.  Your detractors may be many, but that same ridicule can be used as an ignition to fuel the fire within and push you to reach deeper.  Compliments sometimes are few and far in between, but when we receive them, it can be an inspiration to carry us, affirmation to let us know we’re on the right path, and a needed boost to get us over the hump and let us know that what we are doing makes a difference to someone.  Choose your words wisely and remember their power and influence.  It’s easier to demolish a building than it is to resurrect and the same is true with a person’s psyche.  It is so hard to give someone their confidence back, their self-esteem, and so easy to damage it.  Today, and every opportunity you can, speak life, speak strength, speak courage, speak happiness, speak thankfulness, speak gratitude, speak possibility, and even when we have to give criticism, discipline, unsettling opinions, speak that too in love.  Let your words uplift the hearts and minds of the listener and plant a garden that shall grow truth, wisdom, and love.

Nails In the Fence
Author Unknown

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.  The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.”

The little boy then understood how powerful his words were. He looked up at his father and said, “I hope you can forgive me father for the holes I put in you.”  “Of course I can,” said the father.

Thankful Thursdays!

BrotherWord - Thankful Thursdays!

I am so THANKFUL for the power within, the power to reach deep and manifest the energy, the strength, and the courage to continue and to overcome.  I am so THANKFUL for He that is in me that enables, encourages, and enlightens me to become all that I can possibly become and more than I ever imagined.  We all possess this power, this innate trait.  It’s literally in the palm of our hands, the recess of our minds, and the pits of our spirit.  It’s simply a matter of bringing it to the forefront.  It’s about not having to summon it only in times of need, but living in that place continually, always exhibiting the abilities that have been birthed in you.  It’s about living the dream and not always chasing it and making the most of everyday, because you are truly THANKFUL for every part of your life.  It’s a mindset and a purposeful walk, knowing who you are and all you are capable of.  You are more powerful than you ever imagined and although you may not be able to leap tall buildings, run faster than a speeding bullet, or have x-ray vision, you are SUPER!  Be THANKFUL for the gifts you do have and don’t be afraid to share them with the world.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer.  Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~ Harriet Tubman

To dream anything that you want to dream. That’s the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed. ~ Bernard Edmonds
