Thankful Thursdays!

Fourth of July symbolizes the United States gaining its independence when it separated from Great Britain in 1776.  Although this act initially began on July 2, it is widely recognized when Congress finalized the Declaration of Independence on July 4.   John Adams poignantly stated to his wife, “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”  Adams was spot on, as each year American come together and proudly celebrate this country’s freedom and independence.

Especially on this day, I’d like to THANK all those that have come before us and not only set the standards, but left the door open so others could follow.  For all those that have stood on principle and faith alone and fought for our freedoms and liberties, sacrificing everything, i say THANK you.  I’m so THANKFUL for the men and women of the armed services, presently serving or retired, fallen or still marching, who proudly and willingly put themselves in harm’s way so that we may sleep peacefully at night.  I am THANKFUL  for the trailblazers and the luminaries who dared to dream and pursued their ambitions.  Their example fuels and feeds us and allows us to look through someone else’s eyes and see our aspirations are attainable.  I’m THANKFUL for those that continue to encourage and support us when we’re on top and when we’re on the bottom.  It’s that support that let’s us know we aren’t walking alone.  I’m THANKFUL for every encouraging word, comforting hug, and uplifting prayer.  The simplest of gestures mean so much and make an everlasting impact.  I am THANKFUL for the freedom to pursue my dreams and the independence to think out-of-the-box and solidify my identity and path.  I am THANKFUL because over 230 years ago, a group of men decided they wanted to embark on a new odyssey, forge a new passage, and allow this country the freedom to reign.  THANK YOU!

Thankful Thursday!

BrotherWord - Thankful Thursday - Life Lessons

Today I am most THANKFUL for life’s lessons.  Life has a way of bringing out the best, and sometimes the worst, in all of us, but either way, it will challenge your every fiber and force you to grow and expand mentally and emotionally.  Every storm is followed by sunshine, and sometimes a beautiful rainbow.  Although it may be hard to find the silver lining during hardships, know that it exists.  Even when you can’t see it or have doubts, hold onto that belief, fight through, and remember this too shall pass.  No different from school, we are tested to see if we have learned and retained the lesson, and such is life.

We have to go through the fire to be purified and polished.  Gold is dull and lackluster until it is put through extreme heat and a diamond is no more than a lump of coal before it is put through extreme pressure.  From both you are rewarded with a rare and valuable jewel, just like life’s lessons.  The things we go through shape us into the people we are and strive to become.  Be THANKFUL for your life lessons as they are a road map to your future and breadcrumbs from where you’ve come.

Life is the greatest teacher and the lessons it offers will carry you through the best and worst days.  So, take it for all it’s worth and enjoy the ride.  THANK you LIFE for blessing me with opportunity after opportunity to share my lessons with all I can reach and learn  from all that I meet.

What are you most THANKFUL for today?  Share your life lessons and moments of THANKS with #BrotherWord.

Thankful Thursday!

BrotherWord - Thankful Thursdays!

Ever thought what if or if only I would have done this or that?  We all have had those moments when we wished we can turn back the hands of time and have a do-over, a Mulligan.  The thing with do-overs are that it doesn’t guarantee we’ll get the desired outcome.  Instead of dwelling on the past, wishing to do something over, be THANKFUL for today and all it offers.  Today gives us the opportunity to make all our wishes come true, because truth be told, all we have control over is the here and now.  Wouldn’t it be great to make today the best day it possibly can be?  Take advantage of all that today brings to the table and watch how prosperous today will become.  Be THANKFUL for the big and the small and everything in between.  When we appreciate the present (today), we see the value in yesterday (history), and are not only prepared, but have a joyful expectation for what tomorrow (mystery) will offer.  Practice being THANKFUL for where you are, what you have, and what you’ve gone through.  These are the building blocks for the mind and soul that gives peace and purpose.  It soothes, teaches, and prepares us for the next phase.  THANKFUL on purpose and with a purpose, today and everyday!

What are you THANKFUL for today?  Who can you share your THANKFULNESS with?  Can BrotherWord help you discover or re-discover being THANKFUL on purpose?  Send your THANKFUL expressions, questions, and thoughts to BrotherWord in the comment section or at

Thankful Thursday!

It’s Thankful Thursday and as the day comes to an end, I want to express my thanks to all those that have impacted my life in one way or another. Some have challenged me to grow, supported my dreams and aspirations and encouraged me to reach new heights. Others have tried everything in their power to tear me down and destroy my heart and psyche. For both, I am equally thankful. Through each, I have learned who I am, what I stand for, and that there are no limits to how far I can go when I walk by faith and learn to simply be thankful for the things at hand. I’ve been shown, found, accepted that my life has a greater purpose than I ever imagined. The journey continues and I’m excited to have you along for the ride. Sit tight, buckle up. I promise the road ahead will be filled with twists and turns, but along the way, we will cherish, enjoy, and learn from every moment, and be thankful for every minute.
