Seeing Life Clearer

As I was thinking about the last year of the decade and closing out 2019, a new vision (pun intended) began to manifest. 2019 culminated with a lot of lessons, trials, self-reflection, renewed faith, and some unforeseen blessings.

Looking forward to 2020 and the metaphors and meaning, albeit somewhat obvious, it morphed into a greater mission. As we all embark on a new decade, it’s time to start seeing life clearer with a greater focus, fresh lens, and newfound perspective.

20/20 vision is a term used to express normal visual acuity (the clarity or sharpness of vision). What happens when you apply the same attributes to your life? Are you ready to have clarity in your life? Ready to see things with sharpness and vividness? Is it not time to see life minus the rose -colored glasses, no cataracts, or anything else obscuring your view? If you are ready to see life clearer, you simply need to take the following steps.

Focus not only on the things at hand, but the goals you have set for yourself. Many will talk about New Year’s resolutions, but how about shifting that thought to focusing on mastering yourself. Just as our eyesight loses focus when we start looking around or there are too many distractions, so does our life lose focus on the task at hand when we become overly burdened, allowing other people and things to deter us from our path, or even turning a blind eye to the challenges in life. The myth about rose-colored glasses are that they may give a pretty picture, but how many other colors in the spectrum are you missing out on because you choose to look through only one lens?

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. If you have been following BrotherWord, you know I live by and preach “The More You Think, The More You Thank”©. How we look at things determines our perspective, our feelings, and how we react. If you are looking at life with a limited or obstructed view, how can you see it from all angles? If you have blinders on, how much of life are you limiting yourself to and how much are you missing out on? And if you refuse to change your eyesight (the way you perceive and interpret the multiple facets of life), how can you expect any change to take place? Life is going to happen, period, point blank! But how we see life is strictly up to us and we can choose to see and embrace all parts of it or restrict our vision. You do know another way of describing restricted vision is blindness or tunnel vision? it may be okay to have tunnel vision when focusing on a specific task, but remaining that way means you miss out on the rest of life happening around you and ultimately become blind!

Most important of all is to recognize and remember how God sees you and starting looking at yourself and life from His lens. His word says, “You are a royal priesthood” and that “You are beautifully and wonderfully made.” Does that sound like less than or a second-class citizen? What if we all started accepting and manifesting the power within and moving diligently and consistently towards our destiny? Do you know how unstoppable you would become! The photo states God’s Lens reveals the truth, meaning it removes falsehoods, fears, and frailty. You are more than a conqueror, so act like it! God’s Lens finds beauty in the unexpected. Every aspect of life possess its own form of beauty… if you are willing to look and open yourself up to it. Beauty can be found in the best and worst of situations, but it is up to you to recognize it. Lastly, God’s Lens calls us to live transparently. Do you know that each one of us lives a life that is an example, blueprint, filter, and guide for someone else? The only way we can be the truest and purest forms of ourselves is to live a transparent life void of pretenses or exaggerations. The life we have been given will have enough trials and tribulations without complicating or convoluting it any further. The sooner you begin to see yourself as God sees you, the better life will become. And the sooner you start living your most complete and honest life, the better it will be as there is no comparison to YOU!

2020 is here! What are you going to do with it? Are you ready to have a new vision, clarity, conciseness, with a plan and purpose? You can do it! Remove the filters and blinders and start living the most authentic and fulfilling life you can. And if you have a momentary lapse or forget who you are, stand in the mirror and read the below poem to yourself over and over.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Pretty Ugly by Abdullah Shoaib

I’m very ugly

So don’t try to convince me that

I am a very beautiful person

Because at the end of the day

I hate myself in every single way

And I’m not going to lie to myself by saying

There is beauty inside of me that matters

So rest assured I will remind myself

That I am a worthless, terrible person

And nothing you say will make me believe

I still deserve love

Because no matter what

I am not good enough to be loved

And I am in no position to believe that

Beauty does exist within me

Because whenever I look in the mirror I always think

Am I as ugly as people say?

Now read the same words, but bottom-up

Thank You and Continue to Spread the Word!
