One of the greatest feelings in the world is to know you’re not alone. Having someone to confide in and call upon when times are difficult is a comforting and securing feeling that can’t easily be replaced. I am so THANKFUL to have people in my life who are more than family and friends, but confidants, listeners, and sounding boards. They uplift and support me and add an element of belonging. I’m THANKFUL for the ability to speak without being judged, to express without being looked down upon, to converse freely without condemnation, and to express my feelings without them being dismissed.
Communication is the key to life and when you’re able to share dialogue openly and honestly, it is a gratifying feeling. Take time to speak with your loved ones; more importantly, make time to listen to them. The best gift you can give to someone is to listen to them and let them know what they think and how they feel is as important to you as it is to them. Show them how THANKFUL you are for their thoughts and opinions and they’ll be just as THANKFUL to have a voice.
Are you THANKFUL for those around you and the freedom they afford you to share your voice? How does communication play a part in your THANKFULNESS? Share your thoughts with #BrotherWord and THANK YOU for listening.
I saw a sign recently that read, “A Thankful Heart is a Happy Heart.” How àpropos. The more we think, the more we thank©. The brighter our spirits become, the more the burdens dissolve and the faster our hearts and souls fill with joy. Proverbs 23:7 reads, “For as one thinks in his heart, so is he.” The mind is the most powerful tool God gave man and mere thoughts can change a person’s outlook on life and transform the world around them. Today I am so THANKFUL for peace of mind and a happy heart! To have calmness despite being in the midst of storms, to know that in every trial there is a lesson to be learned, and realize that despite any setbacks, tomorrow presents an opportunity to improve and grow, is a purposeful choice to choose happiness and gratefulness and not succumb to life’s heartaches and tragedies. What a blissful and THANKFUL thought! Let today start the transformation of your thoughts and life. Life will present you with many moments of despair, but that’s just it, they are ONLY moments. Choose to minimize the moment and maximize the potential to gain self-actualization and self-improvement. Think about all the blessings you have, look at how far you’ve come and imagine how far you’ve yet to go, envision happiness and greatness let it be the catalyst of THANKFULNESS. As cliché as it may be, we truly are what we think. When you begin to think, began to thank, and watch your world morph and take a paradigm shift turning into a masterpiece of beauty, joy, and unparalleled happiness. #Think2Thank
We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. ~ Buddha
~ Dedicated to the memory and legacy of Rev. Michael P. Jacques, S.S.E., a priest and pillar of a community and city, an activist and advocate for Jesus Christ and his fellow man, a father, uncle, brother, and friend, who showed love to whomever crossed his path, who smiled through life’s worst times, taught others how to not only overcome, but to reach new heights, who fought for the downtrodden and less fortunate, who cared for the elderly and indigent, and who lived a life that exemplified Jesus’ love, grace, mercy, and mission of servitude. He will be missed by many, but the life he led taught us all what life is truly about and how to make the most out of the lives we’ve been given. Love you Fr. Today I am most THANKFUL for life’s lessons. Life has a way of bringing out the best, and sometimes the worst, in all of us, but either way, it will challenge your every fiber and force you to grow and expand mentally and emotionally. Every storm is followed by sunshine, and sometimes a beautiful rainbow. Although it may be hard to find the silver lining during hardships, know that it exists. Even when you can’t see it or have doubts, hold onto that belief, fight through, and remember this too shall pass. No different from school, we are tested to see if we have learned and retained the lesson, and such is life.
We have to go through the fire to be purified and polished. Gold is dull and lackluster until it is put through extreme heat and a diamond is no more than a lump of coal before it is put through extreme pressure. From both you are rewarded with a rare and valuable jewel, just like life’s lessons. The things we go through shape us into the people we are and strive to become. Be THANKFUL for your life lessons as they are a road map to your future and breadcrumbs from where you’ve come.
Life is the greatest teacher and the lessons it offers will carry you through the best and worst days. So, take it for all it’s worth and enjoy the ride. THANK you LIFE for blessing me with opportunity after opportunity to share my lessons with all I can reach and learn from all that I meet.
What are you most THANKFUL for today? Share your life lessons and moments of THANKS with #BrotherWord.
