How we view the world around us greatly shapes our outlook on life. More often than not, if we see the world and our surroundings as dreary, gloomy, or overcast, more than likely, we view our life in the same manner. But when we see the sun piercing through the rain, not only can we find a rainbow in the sky, but we can also find a silver lining in any situation.
Recently, I had an opportunity to literally change my view, to unplug, disconnect, and take in the scenery. Not only was it an eye-opening experience, but it made me realize how bogged down I had become with the everyday hustle and grind. Additionally, I discovered how conditioned my mind had become and distorted my view was now. So consumed with life’s demands, I couldn’t see the forest for the trees and as cliché’ as that may sound, it was a reality I had orchestrated unknowingly.
But as soon as I changed my view, not only could I see the forest, I could also free my mind to see far beyond my present circumstances. Changing your view may take changing your surroundings, discovering new territories, visiting a new place, physically shifting the scene of your true to life stage play. Do not fret if in this season you are not able to change scenery. Our imagination can take us to any distant land we desire and can transform our world with the blink of an eye. Physically, spiritually, metaphorically change your view. Take a trip, whether it be a 100 miles away or thousands miles away, and see a different world from your daily perspective. Discover all the wonders this world has to offer and in the meantime, remember in spite of any perceived ailments, life is as bright as we choose to see it. Even if you cannot go any further than from one room to the other, look out a window, open a book, or simply close your eyes and let your mind take you to a new land. Either way, do not let circumstances, fear, contentment, or anything stop you from exploring a new realm.
Changing your view does not mean you have to change your location. It means changing your mindset so that the way you envision the world around you has a positive and enriching return. We live our lives by how we see it. Change your view from within and watch your world change on the outside. Choose how you see the world and watch it bend to your will. Shape the images of life as you see fit and watch life begin to unfold in ways never seen before. Change your view and your life will become your personal rainbow dispatching any cloudy day.
Passion is an intense emotion, a compelling enthusiasm or desire, it is that thing that wakes you in the morning springing you out of the bed and keeps you up late at night focused on accomplishing all that you have set out to do. Passion is what fuels the purpose and marries the two to change potential to a fulfilled promise! Passion is the catalyst that sparks our hopes, dreams, and aspirations and drives you to achieve the unbelievable, obtain the unthinkable, and shatter any notions of doubt and fear. What you are passionate about is what has been inbred in you and powers the journey ahead. What is that you are passionate about?
Whatever you are passionate about, that one thing in this world you literally would do for free if there were no obstacles or fear of failure, follow it, pursue it, live in it, for it is there that you will not only find purpose, but also walk in God’s promise for your life. God has given each of us specific talents and specific tools to accomplish a specific task. Do not waste your tools or let them go rusty! Walk in your purpose and feed off your passion; the promise will not come back void!
I challenge each of you to trust whatever it is that moves you and excites you, research it, study it, practice it, and use it! It is there for a reason, so stop running from it and denying it. Live the life that was purposed for you and soak up every bit of it. Let your passion light up the world and all you encounter leaving a mark that will transcend and surpass your wildest fantasies. You are more than if only you believe.
Living on #Purpose fueled by #Passion and striving towards #Destiny. Have you found your passion? Are you ready to channel it to achieve your dreams?
“ Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and, above all, don’t let anyone limit your dreams.” ~ Donovan Bailey
Sometimes life is completely unfair and everything you thought was possible, everything you thought you still had time for, just doesn’t work out as planned. But what you do with the time you have is what matters the most. We’ve all heard that where you start and where you end isn’t as important as the journey in between. What will your dash say about you?
Just as quickly as plans change, so do people adapt. Stop letting the changes in life halt you from living! Each moment of life is what you make of it, so you can either decide to crumble under the trials of life or use it as stepping stones to climb higher. Motivation comes in many forms and how you harness that energy and allow it to manifest is a testament to your character and ultimately, the legacy you leave behind.
I had the pleasure and honor of watching a man live life to the fullest, making sure every moment he had mattered. Unbeknownst to him, he left an impression on me that will never be forgotten and how he lived his life inspired so many. Unfortunately, his life was cut way too short and as we celebrate the life he lived, he made sure to leave a reminder of what living is about – “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
Timothy Marsh, knowing that his time in this realm was limited, ensured that his daughters would not forget how much their father loved them nor would his presence not be felt on their wedding days. Please take a moment to watch the videos below and as you are watching them, soak in the experience as you realize that no matter what life may throw at you, when it is all said and done, you still have the opportunity to swing back! Tim didn’t succumb or stop living, but used each breath to make an impact, an impact that will motivate others and bring joy for years to come. Thank you for being an inspiration and motivation Tim; gone too soon, but your legacy shall live on. Rest in Power and in Peace!
“Sorrow not if, in these days and on this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have been ordained and manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly in store for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to your eyes. You are destined by Him, in this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys, and to obtain a portion of their sustaining grace. To each and every one of them you will, no doubt, attain.” ~ Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh

Yesterday I was enlightened with a profound word from @pastorj_higherd in which he stated, “If you want to change your reality, you have to change your mentality.” Many times we allow our thoughts to cloud our vision and ultimately, destroy our destiny. Today, that cycle ends! (more…)
The Wake Up
Just because your eyes are wide open doesn’t mean you can see the truth,
Each time you open your mouth, insert boot.
How many times are you going to continue to lie to yourself and follow the deceit,
Only thing that’s different between them and you is that you have already accepted defeat.
Where they fall and get up, you lie there in sorrow,
Promise you this, no matter how much you hide the sun will rise on tomorrow.
It is past time to stop letting people and circumstances deter your destiny,
If at first you don’t succeed, start over, try again, take responsibility. (more…)
Going into the holiday season, there are many things that can provide inspiration, but there is nothing that motivates more than listening to our elder statesman. A constant source of knowledge and wisdom, it is our elders who have blazed the trails we now travel. You want to find motivation, ask your grandparents what they had to endure so you could have the opportunities you take for granted. You want inspiration, ask someone twice your age how much they were able to accomplish with less than half the resources you have at your disposal. You want to truly learn what it means to have appreciation, ask anyone over sixty how much it means to see you chase your dreams when they were denied basic civil liberties.
Motivation is at your fingertips – a phone call or a visit away. This holiday season, I would like to thank all those that sacrificed so that I may be able to pursue my passion and have the chance to live out my purpose. As you are celebrating the holidays, take a moment to thank those that persevered and overcame so that we could live out our dreams. Then take up the mantle and make sure the torch stays lit for the next generation.
“If you wish to succeed in life, make perseverance your bosom friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother, and hope your guardian genius.” ~ Joseph Addison
During this holiday season, what can be more gratifying than bringing joy to someone else? A selfless act of kindness can be the difference that changes one person’s life and leaves a permanent stamp on an entire community.
Nothing was more evident of this than what was displayed by the young men at Olivet Middle School in Olivet, Michigan. The fact that they thought enough of their classmate is one thing, but they took it a step further and devised and executed a public display worthy to be commended.
I don’t want to spoil their efforts too much so watch the video below, but how great is it when we take the spotlight off ourselves in order to shine it on others. When anyone makes an effort to help someone, they are enriching two lives, their life and the recipient. You need inspiration, are you wondering why you have been placed in the position you are in, trying to understand your purpose? Look no further as these young men teach and exemplify the living embodiment of one for all and all for one.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” ~ Winston Churchill
The closer you get to the prize, the more challenges arise. ~ BrotherWord
When you are motivated by your passion and pursuing your purpose, enemies near and far will begin to surface all around you. Unforeseen and unimaginable challenges will spring up out of nowhere and how you react will determine the outcome and determine who wins. No matter what, you can never succumb or give in. It’s true, “what doesn’t break you, makes you stronger.” Every setback is a setup for a greater come up. It’s cliché, and passé, but it’s a fact. The experiences we have in life mold the character we exude.
Life will take you through ups and downs, but it also provides a seatbelt; strap in and hold on. Sometimes the ride will be smooth and carefree; at other times it will be tumultuous and shake you to your core. It is during both times, you have to remember why you started to begin with, where your passion lies, who will it serve, what can be accomplished by staying the course, and how it impacts not only yourself, but those you encounter. And here’s a little secret… the bigger the blessing, the bigger the barrage.
Find motivation within, through others, and wherever it can be found. It only takes a spark to reignite the fire and like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, you too can rise from the heat and soar high. Believe in your dream, believe the impossible, believe that this too shall pass, and believe that you already possess everything you need to succeed.
The human spirit is fantastic, amazing, and immeasurable. We see people surpass physical and mental limitations each day and the only difference is their will to win and desire to overcome. Derek Clark is a prime example of such a will and is a shining example of rising from the ashes… literally. Take a minute to listen to the rapping dad and then dig a little deeper to see how far he’s come. You’ll be astonished by what you discover and hopefully it will give you that extra incentive you’re seeking to light your fire.
Good fortune and bad are equally necessary to man, to fit him to meet the contingencies of this life.

Your Dream is only as good as the work you’re willing to put in to bring it from a vision to a reality. Dreams are great. They allow us to wonder and fantasize about the unknown, but it’s only when we seize the moment that we truly gain all that is offered. Dream as big as your mind will allow and work doubly hard to make those dreams come true. It’s when we see the fruit of our labor that we realize the potential we possess. #TeamDream
